City of Phoenix Election Mail Piece Announces Voting Centers
Voters are receiving mailed notices from the City of Phoenix announcing a new Voting Center. 26 Voting Centers will replace the 128 traditional poling places that once served the Phoenix area. Voters will be instructed to use the Voting Centers beginning with the August 2011 Phoenix City Mayor and Council Election. The City of Phoenix mail piece claims that the new system will make voting more flexible and convenient and significantly reduce election costs.
The mailer further states, “With traditional poling places, on Election Day, voters had to vote at one designated polling place for the precinct where they live. With Voting Centers, they may vote at any of the 26 locations. Also, voting centers will be open for three days.”
Saturday, August 27th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday, August 29th, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, August 30th (Election Day), 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Watch your mail for a Sample Ballot and Publicity Pamphlet – mailed to each registered voter household late in July, which will contain a map of the locations. Or visit phoenix.gov/election online.
