USPS EDDM Size Requirements: What Qualifies
EDDM pieces must mail as flats, not letters — that’s the rule that drives every EDDM size. To qualify:
- Minimum: the piece must be taller than 6.125″ (or longer than 10.5″). This is why standard 4×6 and 5×7 postcards don’t qualify for EDDM — they’re too short.
- Maximum: no larger than 15″ long × 12″ high × 0.75″ thick.
- Weight: up to 3.3 oz for EDDM Retail.
So an “EDDM postcard” is really a large-format flat. The smallest practical EDDM postcard is around 6.5 × 9″; the largest common one is 8.5 × 11″ (with a 6 × 12″ panoramic option). We add the required EDDM Retail indicia for you, and the mailing paperwork is PS Form 3587.
