EDDM cost breaks down into three parts: postage, printing, and, if we’re handling the mailing for you, a service fee for the USPS paperwork, presorting, and drop-off. One of those three numbers is public and fixed; the other two depend on your order. Here’s what actually determines your price, and how to get the real number for your campaign in about two minutes.

What Determines EDDM Cost

Three things make up the total:

  • Postage: a fixed USPS EDDM-Retail rate for standard retail EDDM mailings.
  • Printing: depends on postcard size, paper stock, finish, and quantity.
  • Service: applies when you want us to handle the mailing end-to-end (presorting, USPS paperwork, and drop-off) instead of doing it yourself.

Print only orders skip the service component entirely; full service orders include it.

Every mailing prices differently. Pick your routes and see your own price instead of working from an average.

The USPS EDDM-Retail Postage Rate

This is the one number we can quote you without knowing anything about your order: EDDM-Retail postage is currently $0.260 per piece, set by USPS and the same for every mailer nationwide. It’s not something we mark up or negotiate. It’s a pass-through USPS rate. Postage rates change periodically (this figure reflects USPS’s most recent Notice 123 update); if you’re reading this well after the date on this page, ask us to confirm the current rate when you request a quote.

What Print & Service Costs Depend On

Printing cost depends on your postcard’s size, the paper stock and finish you choose, and how many pieces you’re printing. A 6.5″×9″ run of 5,000 prices differently than an 8.5″×11″ run of 1,000. Service cost (for full service orders) depends mostly on your list size and route count. The fastest way to an accurate number is the live price in our free tool; it reflects your exact size, quantity, and routes.

Design costs come down when the artwork is built right the first time. Our free EDDM templates handle the layout rules for you.

EDDM Cost FAQs

How much does EDDM cost per piece?

Postage alone is $0.260 per piece (the current USPS EDDM-Retail rate). Your total cost per piece also includes:

  • Printing: based on postcard size, quantity, paper stock, and finish.
  • Service, if full service: USPS paperwork, presorting, and drop-off.

See your exact total in our EDDM tool.

Is EDDM cost the same for every business?

For standard EDDM-Retail mailings, the USPS postage rate is the same for every business because USPS sets that rate.

USPS-authorized nonprofits are the important exception to ask about. A qualified nonprofit may be able to use lower nonprofit postage for eligible EDDM entered through the correct permit/BMEU path, but that is not the same as a normal retail EDDM drop-off. If nonprofit postage affects your budget, contact us before you plan the mailing so the entry method and authorization can be confirmed.

Print and service costs still vary based on the order:

  • Size
  • Paper and finish
  • Quantity
  • Route count
  • Whether AccurateAZ handles mailing services for that job

Do you charge more for full service than print only?

Full service includes a service component (USPS paperwork, presorting, drop-off) that print only orders don’t have, since print only customers handle the mailing themselves. Both include the same postage and printing costs for a given order.

Why don’t you publish a price list?

Because a fixed list either goes stale as costs change, or doesn’t match what you’d actually pay for your specific size, stock, and quantity. Our free tool gives you your real price directly instead of an estimate you’d need to double-check anyway.

How is EDDM pricing different from a mailing list campaign?

EDDM postage is a flat per-piece USPS rate with no list-purchase cost. A mailing-list campaign adds the cost of the list itself on top of postage and printing. Which option is less expensive depends on your reach goals. See our direct mail services overview for the comparison.
