Every Door Direct Mail postcards aren’t standard postcards — USPS requires EDDM pieces to mail as flats, so they start larger than the 4×6 cards at the post office. Below are our most popular EDDM postcard sizes with their dimensions, the USPS size rules that decide what qualifies, design specs, and a quick guide to which size fits your campaign. For regular mail sizes, see our standard postcard size guide.

USPS EDDM Size Requirements: What Qualifies
EDDM pieces must mail as flats, not letters — that’s the rule that drives every EDDM size. To qualify:- Minimum: the piece must be taller than 6.125″ (or longer than 10.5″). This is why standard 4×6 and 5×7 postcards don’t qualify for EDDM — they’re too short.
- Maximum: no larger than 15″ long × 12″ high × 0.75″ thick.
- Weight: up to 3.3 oz for EDDM Retail.

How to Set Up Your EDDM Artwork
Three things matter when you design an EDDM postcard:- Trim — the finished postcard size.
- Bleed — extend your background past the trim so color runs to the edge after cutting.
- Safe area — keep text and logos inside the trim so nothing important gets cut off.
